Why a betahaus membership is the best thing for early-stage startups

betahaus has been a home, a launching pad and a hub for startups and entrepreneurs since 2009, and many credit their success from being immersed in our unique community in their early stages.

Not just a brand, a community

It’s not just the flexible fun work space we provide, but the atmosphere to connect with like-minded people who can support founders on their journey.

What does this mean in reality though, and is there a tangible impact? (yes! of course!). Let’s dive in on how coworking spaces can give your startup the edge to succeed - and why one of the best ways to benefit from the betahaus community is by setting up your headquarters inside.

Get that coworking magic

Starting with the first step - why should you even be considering renting an office in a coworking space to begin with. Isn’t working from home and fully remote the new norm?? Yes!

and, there are still many great reasons to have an office option for your team to meet a few days a week. Including but not limited to:

  • Having a profesh dedicated work space, where everyone can get in the zone, make sure you’re in the right mindset to focus on the business goals, and come together to hash out those things that can only be done in person.
  • It’s super helpful in creating boundaries between work and home life, which we all know founders can reallllllyyyyy struggle with.
  • A proper place to meet potential investors, funders and partners. Can’t be doing grown-up business meetings from the local cafe!
  • Coworking brings all the wins of your own office without worrying about maintenance, supplies, locking up at night or any other faff that comes with keeping an office going (there is lots, trust us…cos we’ll be kept busy doing them for you!).
  • A coworking space also comes with built-in friends and peers! Yay! And (usually) cool events and someone to activate the space and curate the vibes - a huge perk for keeping your team happy, that you don’t have to worry about organising.
  • And unlike your own office, coworking space memberships and leases are super flexible so you have room to grow and scale as unpredictably as your business might do.

So, professional workspace to grow = a good thing for your business.
A coworking office as your workspace = a great thing for your business.
And a betahaus coworking space as your office…? The *best* thing for your business.

betabreakfast with Coffee Circle

If you’re think we’re just saying that, we’ve got receipts from betahaus alumni to back us up:

Plan A couldn't be possible without the key support, and the various jokes, of the whole betahaus coworking crew in Berlin. - Plan A
What definitely stood out at betahaus was the creative atmosphere in the community. It seemed like a melting pot for good ideas. We got in touch with future developers, future designers, grew our small customer base from there and were able to gather a ton of valuable feedback. - Urban Sports Club
For us, there couldn't have been a better place to set up Coffee Circle in 2010. We packed the first packages there, hired the first employees, and dealt with the first crises. In 2 years we grew so fast that we no longer fit and had to move out. But one thing is certain, betahaus will always be a home for us. - Coffee Circle

So what’s the betahaus secret sauce that brings early stage start-ups benefits beyond the four walls of an office, and why should you make it your next business plan to join us?

We’ve said it before and we’ll keep on saying it: c-o-m-m-u-n-i-t-y

Many coworking spaces preach the benefits of their community network for prospective members, but how many actually back it up when you walk through the doors, day in and day out? We’ve staked our reputation on our community-first approach and have been delivering on it for 15 years and counting. And you can see it in our testimonials, or if you drop by any betahaus space you can experience it first hand!

What you’re also getting when you rent an office with us then is instant membership to a whole network of like-minded entrepreneurs, creatives, freelancers and teams, who are driven by the same passion for pushing boundaries and building something new. If you’ve ever felt the benefits of our community at one of our events over the years, imagine being immersed in every day as your home base.

And it’s not just for banter

The community spirit and affinity for a warm welcome goes beyond mere office pleasantries too (although we do still rate the coffee machine and the rooftop terraces as best spots for spontaneous coworker chats); it’s also about meaningful connections.

From sharing knowledge, recommending services, being a sounding board and just generally supporting each other’s journeys, the betahaus community are all buying in to put the co in coworking. We’re all here for each other and giving what we can to help everyone succeed. For early-stage startups, this means you’re never alone in tackling the ups and downs of startup hell life. Need advice on funding? Looking for a tech partner? Or just need some product feedback? At betahaus, you’ll not only find your people, but they’ll be there to keep you going at every turn.

A home for innovators, driven by innovation

Innovation isn’t just a buzzword at betahaus (ok it kind of sometimes is, but we mean it when we say it too) - it’s woven into the fabric of everything we do. Even our name, betahaus, is because we believe in being open to change, never getting stuck and constantly learning, growing and pushing new boundaries. We foster the creative collaborative spirit that Berlin is so famous for and provide an environment where ideas are not only welcomed and encouraged, but can thrive. Whether it’s through our ever-changing lineup of inspiring events and guest speakers, our connections over a beer or three at our regular drinks social, or our tailored services through betahausX, we provide the fertile ground where startups can innovate, iterate, and thrive.

Get connected to Berlin’s ecosystem

Berlin is one of Europe’s most dynamic startup capitals, and being at betahaus puts you right in the thick of it. Because did we mention we’ve been doing this for 15+ years?! Our connections to the broader startup ecosystem - from investors and accelerators to media and corporate partners - give our members a significant advantage. We’re more than just a coworking space; we’re a gateway to Berlin’s vibrant entrepreneurial landscape.

And connected to the world!!

Whilst we’re Berlin specialists, betahaus is also a global community, with far-reaching connections into the European startup scene and beyond. We’ve got locations across 4 countries, meaning your membership to betahaus actually unlocks access to a vast community of like-minded people all over.

The space itself is also great too!

So that’s all the cool people and killer connections and general beneficial vibes you get when renting a team room at betahaus, but what about the room and the space itself? Happy to report they are also on point.

Our private Team Rooms are currently based at our newest locale, betahaus Urban. Found on the top floor in central Kreuzkölln, right by Hermannplatz, it’s a light, airy, and very shiny-and-new space that also features an absolutely dazzling rooftop terrace. We’re talking sunshine and views for days! You’ve not only got your office space ready to make your own, but there’s super-cute phone booths; meeting rooms and event space; multiple kitchens (goodbye to queuing for the microwave at lunchtime); open plan areas for mingling and meeting new peeps, and hot desk spaces for Pro members, which always adds to the lively feel of beta!

Join us fam

As early stage startups the connections you make and the people you surround yourself with can make the difference between growth and stagnation. Setting up your office with betahaus gives you a focused work hub to build your business, surrounded by dozens of people who have been there before and can help you along the ride.

And if you’re still unsure, let’s hear it one more time from some betahaus alumni who have been before you:

I love the community at betahaus. One of the most successful stories might be that we met one of our biggest investors here! He has been a great support ever since. And yes, that's really the power of community. We have some users here as well, along with fellow entrepreneurs, so we can exchange a lot. It's really nice. - Faircado

We certainly gain inspiration from the betahaus coworkers and members of what is happening right now. This has indirectly benefited our growth. - Space and Lemon
